Start with the compartment that changed
The freezer is still cold, but the milk is warm. Or the refrigerator and freezer have both changed since yesterday. Those are different starting points. Briefly check which section is affected and note when you first noticed it; repeatedly opening the doors makes a temperature comparison harder.
Use the table to organize what you see. It does not diagnose a part, and you do not need to test every scenario before calling.

A setting and a temperature reading are different
The selected setting is the temperature you asked the appliance to maintain. What a panel displays during normal operation or adjustment depends on the model. Record the display exactly and say whether you were changing the setting at the time.
A quick reading of air near an open door is not the same as a stabilized food-storage measurement. Sub-Zero’s measurement guide uses a suitable thermometer in liquid and allows time for it to settle. Follow the linked guidance for the exact procedure. Move temperature-sensitive food to reliable cold storage when cooling is uncertain; do not leave it warming while waiting for a measurement.

Check the visible door and recent history
Look for a container, bottle or drawer keeping the door from closing. Examine the accessible gasket for a gap, tear or displacement. A photograph of the untouched condition can be more useful than an attempted hinge adjustment.
Mention a large grocery load, a door left ajar, a new installation or a recent power interruption. These events help establish the timeline. Persistent warming or repeated alarms should not be dismissed as normal recovery. If condenser maintenance is due, use only the procedure described for your model; access is not identical across the range.

Identify the model before changing controls
Classic, Designer and PRO are useful family names, but the complete model narrows down the controls and storage layout. The manufacturer provides different instructions for several generations. Keep that distinction when reading advice about alarms, compartment settings or maintenance access.
Use a visible label or an existing purchase document. If the label cannot be reached without moving the appliance or removing a panel, leave that for the appointment. A photograph of the front and controls can still help describe what is installed.

What a cooling assessment needs to separate
The assessment connects the temperature pattern with how the unit is operating. Door sealing, air movement, sensing and refrigeration operation are different things to check; the symptom alone does not establish which one caused the problem.
For example, a freezer that still works tells us something about that storage section. It does not prove that the refrigerator’s controls and cooling components are working. Likewise, an unfamiliar sound is worth reporting, but it is not enough to select a replacement compressor.
